I stripped this off either an XS1 or an XS1B I’m not too sure but anyone know where it goes?

It's an isolator for the battery box, suspending it in the frame.

I got confused as the rear fender mounts listed are not rubbed like this one?

Here’s a photo of them in place, the ribbed ones go in the silver brackets on the front of the battery box, ( the arrows are from a previous post )

The fender mount rubbers are , I believe smooth sided.

I thought they were the battery box mount rubbers but the ones I have on there have a hole straight through, the one in the photo don’t?

Parttzilla is wrong. The battery damper is 256-21729-00-00 and is ribbed. The fender damper is 256-21638-00-00 and is smooth.
However, except for the ribs they are interchangeable.

They weren't building MK 14 torpedos, assembly prolly used whichever one was closest.

But why the difference between the 2 ribbed ones, one has a hole right through and one doesn’t?

Trojan always claimed ribs were better.
Wear? Trips deep into the shed kinda not much fun right now but I'll take a look see "soon".
