Can you identify if this is a 750 or a 850 by just looking at it?

I have a xs850 with bad compression. And came across this one for sale but they don't know if it's 8 or 750

Would a 750 fit right in and match the attachment points and drive shaft?

On the front base of #1 cylinder, cast into the cylinder block on the 850 in my shed is the marking 823cm2. I can't clearly remember exactly the last 2 digits but you get the idea.

I have no idea if the the motor is a direct swap or if the shaft coupling will match.
Try asking on the UK based XS750/850 forum.

Is this what you would call the face? Left side or right side is number 1?
And like stamped near the exhaust?

yamaha engine # maches the vin so the engine number should decode to year and model?
