Took the bike on its first real ride today and it ran great! Was wondering what you guys do to cut down on vibration if there’s any tricks? This is my first xs and man do these things vibrate
Carb syncs by manometer. Make sure your timing is not over advanced. Perhaps retard the timing 2* from stock. You will lose a bit of power that way though
You don’t realize how much those rubber mounts insulate the vibes until they’re not there. The rubber foot pegs also do a great job. I recently added a solid steel set of highway pegs and the vibration is intense on those foot pegs.
Thanks guys yeah most of the vibration is in the bars which makes sense since I have clip ons attached to the forks haha I do still need to sync the carbs too though so I’ll get that done soon
All seriousness aside, synchronizing the carbs does help a bit but basically, a big 360 degree twin with no counterbalancers, like an XS650, simply IS going to vibrate.
Quite honestly, I have found that over time, I notice the vibration less and less as I ride.
