First Tracker Make Over

Yes. 1 1/2" would have been much easier and I could have used the stock exhaust flanges. 1 1/2" also is available with a 3 or 3 1/2" center line radius that would make a perfect bend on the head pipes and give more clearance between the front frame rails and cylinder fins too. So 1 3/4" it is.

Exhaust is on hold at the moment so I made a heat shield to replace the LH number plate and changed the chain guard a little. I did notice my rear sprocket and rear disc carrier are not polished. Not acceptable but I`ll take care of that and probably change to a larger rear tire.

Today I made new beauty (ugly) plates. Slots instead of holes. Pipes are all TIG`d and will be ready for chrome shop next week. I also ordered a bigger back tire and I`ll polish the rear sprocket and disc carrier when I change the tire. I`ll probably make new (plain) foot peg brackets too.

Went in the garage (oven) this morning to test fit the pipes to make sure they didn`t move around when welded and unboxed the new rear tire for a look. Seems wide but the bead will be pulled in a couple of inches when mounted. I`m sure I`ll run into chain guard, chain, shock, and brake stay clearance problems but I`ve got nothing better to do than make this all work. This time I`ll just give the bike shop the $90 to dismount, mount and balance the new tire. Writing a check will be much easier than fighting with the tire and tube.

After spanking the Rental House monkey for a week (rental house and working air cond should not even be in the same sentence) I finally got the pipes prepped and ready for the chrome shop tomorrow.

Pipes are in the chrome shop so I got the 27.5X7.5-19 rear tire mounted and balanced and polished the rear sprocket and disc carrier. Plenty of chain and chain guard side clearance but I`m going to have to get a chain that is 1 link longer to give more front clearance (only 1/4" now). The dismount, mount and balance cost more than the new tire. I do like the stance a little better though. Pipes should be done next week.

Pipes back from the chrome shop. Everything is installed except for the new chain and polish the inside half of the front disc carrier. Almost done so I`ll have to start thinking about a "Make Over" ReDo.:shootme: The short "Bobber" exhaust came out good too.

The Make Over is finally done. Well sorta anyway. I really can`t think of anything else I`d like to do to it. Tank is drained and carbs drained and cleaned and battery is removed and on the storage/maintenance/charger. I decided I`m probably not going to ride this one anymore.

It sure is a beauty! 😍 Love the pipes, the red accents and of course….that magneto!
Certainly one of your best builds! 👍🏻

Thanks Bob. I always value your input. I don`t know about my best but it`s certainly my most expensive build for sure. I just added up the receipts for the make over and WOW!!

Best not to do that in my experience; better for your mental stability!
Great build tho' Halfmile; stunning finish.

Beautiful bike Phil.. I always enjoy your build threads. I just noticed a 'quick change' rear wheel. I don't remember you stating that. Well done. Just goes to show that I should have bought it from you when you posted it on Denver CL 10 or so years ago, although it wasn't the same bike as it is today.
