Head gasket surface scratch

While preparing the heads for re-assembly i noticed the the surfaces had a small nick/scratch towards the outside as shown in the pics(close to cam bearing area). Both the head and cover have a small nick as shown in the two pics. Does anybody know if this will cause a problem - leaks, etc ? The engine was not running when i bought it so i dont know if this caused any leaks or mating problems. Given that this is on the outside i don't think it should be a problem but i hoping i could use the expertise on this forum to decide. The heads overall are in great condition and i'd hate to change them..

Agree, no problem. Be sure to use the matching head and cover set, though; they are machined as a unit and will have the same numbers hand stamped. If the numbers are mixed the bearing bores may not be correct, among other things.
