Scary sound. Thoughts?

You can get somebody to weld your xs650 crank. I looked into it myself, but all I could personally find was too expensive. The crank I ended up with had a lot less big end rod wobble than the one I had, so there's more than just welding, you'd want a crank rebuilt and then welded. If my lottery numbers turned up, I'd definitely get a like new + welded crank
 
Update. Since I didn't feel like tearing this motor apart, I picked up a used motor from a gentleman in Utica. Snow-mageddon (or was it SnowPocalypse?) happened on Friday, and the boy was home from school, so he and I swapped the motor in the Breakfast Room. Garage was much too cold!

We haven't started it as of yet. Had I seen the sludge that drained out of it when swapping the oil filter plate for my Heiden plate, or noticed the non-factory case bolts when purchasing, I might have walked away from this particular motor. Oh well, fingers crossed....
