Clip-ons: It's not what you think.
The clutch and front brake perch's on the XS came with mirror bosses. My bike, from the original owner, had plugs in the mirror boss holes and clip-on installed. These ones with handle bar mounts:

The mirrors are convex and smaller than my perch mount mirrors even though they look bigger in the third photo.

The Clip-on is on the top and I'm holding it in front and against the perch mount. You can see a bigger area in the clip-on but it looks further away. These have held up pretty well over the years. There are shadows on the tops where the silver film is starting to give up, a few pits of rust. But I cleaned and preserved them and stuck them in plastic bags for storage.
Well, slap my Mama! What's the big deal Thu?
They are Yamaha mirrors.

You tell me. Were mirrors optional in 1977? Were these cheaper than perch mount mirrors? Were these used as cheap replacements after the perch mounts were torn off in an accident? I don't know.
What I do know, that feller over there that was looking down his shorts with a magnifying glass; I tried that with one of these mirrors and discovered invisibility!
