What have you done to your XS today?

Ordered E type tensioner complete with damper from Geoffs xs.$130 includes post. Still pouring rain so haven't been for a ride since tappets adjustment. Looking for a bike for the wife and found this, runs. $8,900 aus. Also a fully restored xs2 for $22,000 aus.

Wow, I just had to do a dollar conversion to compare. Didn’t realize exactly how much more value these bikes held down under.
Did the same for Canadian currency and was surprised with the great value these have in Australia. The bike looks like it will clean up nicely without too much work. Congratulations!

Excuse my hijacking this thread and misleading narrative but both the xs2s are 950 kilometres away so would require transportation, and time off work. While I was searching the classifieds the wife found a 2020 bmw 310 gs she likes ,probably a bit easier for her to ride ,only $6,000aus and it is only 20 kilometres from home so if the rain eases we can go and check it out after work.

I sand blasted my side panels to prepare for painting. I can't decide on the color. I'm between Kubota orange-ish and Machine grey or satin black.

Hi ANX,
I've always reckoned that a bike's side panels' colour should match it's frame rather than it's gas tank.

Buttoned up the XS650 tonight. Too many cars in the way to do a test run so it will have to wait until tomorrow. In case you were wondering what happens if you don't use the correct VM22/210 pilots your bike will start but won't idle worth a cr*p and will act like it's running out of gas. Ask me how I know...

Can anyone tell me why one exhaust valve cover has 3 bolts and the other has 4? My OCD is starting to itch.

XS-1 and 1B were kick start only and had 3 hole covers. They added electric start in 72... the XS-2. Because they felt the starter needed help, they put a compression release on the left exhaust valve. That was the first 4 hole cover.
Later.... 75 I think, they deleted the compression release as it wasn't needed. They never retooled the the castings though... and left the 4 hole on all subsequent models.

Thanks, that’s gonna help me sleep now.
