While I’m waiting for one more part for my clutch replacement on the ‘72, I adjusted the valves and cam chain tension. Would have installed the E-type tensioner on Patience but wanted to watch Jim’s team win.

My Happy Place
Pleased to report my 'new' workshop space is taking shape.
All mechanics tools currently owned have moved to the new site. Taffy is now in residence; The Brat will follow.
Workbench to be assembled, and shelving to be installed. I have decided to invest in a Hiplok AX1000 Ground Anchor & D-Lock; Both of which are angle grinder ressistant.
This unit is £110.00 per month to rent.
Good points are:
CCTV is everywhere, both in and outside the bulding. Electric gate with keypad entry. Electric roller door. Clean and dry enviroment. No ramp needed at the entry (Unlike a container).
Bad points:
At 148 Sq/Ft its a tad small. No electric mains power. No water supply. Outdoor beer/wine cooler dont work!

Now that I am renting a workshop / storage unit I thought some additional security would be a wise investment.
The review above fully explains the quality of the products, and tests the units to destruction; very interesting.
They are not cheap at £599.00 for the pair, but worth it for peace of mind. They are availible seperatly.
I had a good search of various products on the inter-web and have settled on the followin items:

No, seriously, a good friend has the same problem and he was able to solve it this way with a neighboring small company

Its a good idea, and one I may persue in a few weeks when I get to know the nieghbours. Most of my tools are battery operated Milwaukee kit; so I should be OK. Well, that's the big price question. The Honda models are relatively quiet, but can still be a bit annoying if you want to work in a relaxed manner. If you already have many cordless tools, the only thing missing is lighting ... and of course the most important one: cold beer
For that you could also put a nice big 12V battery in your car and charge it at home : )

I’ve used them before, PROPER JOB very good company who know their stuffRaymond, I’m using pittedforks.co.uk. They are in Luton ,Beds and provide a pick up and delivery service as part of the price. it’s a hard chrome application. Give them a call, they seem to be nice people.
Just epoxy primed all the bits today & will start sanding on SundayJust order the paint & stuff for the bike. I was thinking about having a crack at it myself, but it's a bit expensive if I stuff it up, so I'll drop it to the paint shop we use for work. I can blame them if it looks crap!
My mate built it himself, a plumber by trade but he's one of those people who can do anything very well, except electricsI like your paint booth!
I feel a bit guilty asking him to help as he's always busy but I couldn't justify the amount of money spray painters wanted even with me supplying the materials. I am doing the sanding down to make me feel like I'm helping & it should turn out OK under his instructions.
Trying to have it back together for a Historic demonstration at Broadford race circuit during Easter
For no more power than you'll need Adam, maybe look into a portable power station? Granted, they ain't cheep, but bein' able to charge it at home and use it in the "shop" has some pretty good advantages.

Felt so good about getting the ‘72 clutch done I decided to install the ‘E’ type cam chain tensioner on Patience. As long as I was into it I also checked valve adjustment. The plugs have around 3k on them so I took a look at those as well. I thought they looked pretty good.

I just finished up a 102 mile ride returning from Elefantreffen Rally 2024! What a great time! If you get the chance, make the trip! The XS650 was a hit at the event. Many people gave the engine rave reviews. It gave me new memories, and brought back old one for bikers that cut their teeth on one back in the day...Yomama! Rode Hard! Rode Fast!
