Hey everyone,
I'm about a week into my first build, and thought it might be smart to get on the forum before anything goes too wrong. So I found an 83 heritage special that would just dump gas everywhere instead of run. So, naturally I took it home. After messing with the carbs a few times, I got it running okay, it needed a lot of clutch and didnt like to move under my weight. That was good enough for me to jump in deep.
So I've stripped the bike down to just the engine to get ready for a hardtail. As i was draining what little oil the bike came with, a large chunk of metal came out stuck to the plug.
It turned out to be a piece of an old dipstick. Being that I dont want that to happen again, I was looking thru the hole and it seems strange that there is no guide for it to keep it away from the gears.
Looking into it, it almost looks like the casting is broken.
Is this normal or is the case damaged?
