Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

It is a MZ (from east Germany) bike modified with a home made twin cylinder engine.

Yes, tank looks very much MZ250. MZ was the mothership of modern two-strokes. Without the technology from MZ Werke Zschopau, the 60s and 70s Japanese two stroke bikes from Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki may not have happened.

Was there a video here somewhere chronicling MZ development of expansion chamber technology?

I'd hazard a guess at that being either a, or a derivative of the, TZ lump, but in an MZ frame.

A highschool friend imported one when they were new. He imported as a "track only" unit. But, you know the temptation... He showed up at my house with tags from another bike. I got 10-15 interesting minutes on it on county roads before he stripped it down, exhaust and carb mods, and suspension and tire upgrades.

A guy who I bought some XS650 parts from has both the Suzuki Gamma and the Yamaha RD500LC (RZ500). They were so far back in his storage 'basement' that I couldn't get a goo look at them. He said they both run.
