clutch

I just got my XS running after being torn apart. I noticed that when I engage 1st gear, it seems to "pop" into gear or jerk a bit. Not a smooth shift. Is this normal on the XS? Or is it a clutch adjustment problem? I have had dirt bikes in the past do this, but I want to be certain I am not...

I'm at the point on my build where I need to figure out cables. i wanted to see what everyone else is doing for custom cables for their bobber builds.

I ordered and received the Hydraulic Clutch kit from Hugh. Received it quickly as usual from Hugh. The instructions on his blog are spot on. Easy to install. Works GREAT and even looks GREAT, Hugh did a fantastic job as usual. :thumbsup:

What is everyone using for clutch springs ? EBC,Ferodo ,Barnett? And wheres a good place to get them?

I am going to put 12 inch apes on an 81 special and was told the stock cables should be long enough. Can anyone confirm that? Also I wanted to switch to the ez pull cables on 650 central and was wondering; if I needed a longer cable than stock, would the 61 inch cable be to long? Thanks

Hey I need to order some new plates for my 81. I have 6 friction plates and 5 clutch plates. In my Clymer it shows the two center friction plates to be slightly different from the outer two on each side. Can I just order six of the friction plates that Mikes sells and use them?

does anyone have any idea why my bike would shift good on the first ride of the day but then progressively get worse as it heats up threw out the day? the clutch also seems to get harder to pull as well. could my clutch cable be stretched? any advise would be cool. thanks, Nic

I was driving down the road and my clutch cable snapped on me. I ordered a new one from Mikes and I was wondering if I could install it myself instead of taking it to a shop.
