The mufflers my 1979 Special II came with are very loud. I don't see a brand name stamped on them. The "end caps" can be taken off. Is there some kind of insert to reduce the noise level or do I have to replace the whole system (mufflers are welded onto the headers)...

How much exhaust tape (wrap) would i need to cover a 3 foot exhaust pipe. I want to use 2 inch wide black tape. Some one told me 3 feet of tape for evey 1 foot of pipe with a 1/4" overlap. So, if i use that math, i need about 10 feet of tape for a 3 foot pipe...??? :banghead:
