So. Just a quick question to those that have been there enough to know more than I do (which is just about everybody).
If one has a drum brake hub that has some rust in it, how does one go about restoring this to a usable condition? If the part is beyond restoration can they be repaired or...
Measuring my XS1B's #125 throttle plates, plus #120 and #135 throttle plates submitted by DogBunny.
Thought I'd share some of this trivia.
Throttle plates are an oval shape, as though they were sliced (sausage style) at an angle through a cylinder.
The width of a throttle plate is the...

I aquired this bike in the most unusual way and i have greatly admired these bikes for some time so i am anxious to dive in to this build. Helo me get started?
Good morning everybody! I am at the crossroads with my first bike. I am looking to push the majority of the budget I have towards the heart of the bike, the motor. Does anyone happen to have any good recommedations or experience with having a motor rebuilt in Southern or Central California...
Is there anyway I can bend this clamp on my triple tree back into position other than taking a hammer to it and hoping for the best, or does it need to be completely replaced? The main issue is that the bolt threading is not aligned so I can't clamp in my right fork :(
Just wanted to share some cleaning experiences, along the way of my rebuild. Here are some before and after pics of the pistons. I found a vapor blasting service, in New Mexico, that I would highly recommend. His name is Dan Vitaletti of Vapor Blast Solutions. He is on top of his game, with...
I just bought a '77 model, and had the seller remove the front forks, clutch lever and cable, front brake cable, and headlamp to fit it in my buddy's truck. It's my first Japanese bike, and I only own English measure tools so I need basic set of wrenches to get started and put it back together...

I found this video about a 14 year old boy who built his own bike, and it totally blew my mind. Well, not really, but what it did is to fill me with regret about not doing this with my son.
Enjoy this!

After tearing down my carbs, examined the throttle shaft bores, and found that the inboard bores are just 8mm holes in the carb body. But the outboard (throttle lever side) bores appear to have split bushings. A magnet sticks to the bushing, so I can assume that they're steel.
Took close-up...

Hi Guys
Got a spare 447 motor i have decided to rebuild. I wasn't planning on doing the bottom end but when i pulled the starter i found some broken gear teeth. Got a really nice replacement gear box so I've decided to totally tear it down.
I noticed the small ends of the rods look...

Want to remove flaky clear coat off 76 aluminum wheels. any tips on how to make this a bit easier. I do not want to de spoke the wheel. Thanks Mitch
Working on the 70, the battery box in it was pretty far gone.
I have a better one but it's still seen some use.
Metal is a bit thin here and there but the biggy is the separated seam at the bottom. Chemical stripped the paint, used a nylox brush in a drill for a bit. I got some of...

She was an Iowa farm girl, The Weathervane Man had her parked in the garage behind this truck,
After a tour of his projects and some interesting tales she came home with me.
That was last summer and a couple of weeks ago "weathervane" went up on the lift.
So like me this thread is going to...
