What have you done to your XS today?

Finished up a fresh rebuild today, except for new rotor expected any day from JimD.

Worked on exhaust today. I’ve got an old set of Pandemonium yo-mama’s that I really like, but they are going to be a lot louder than I really want. A couple years ago I bought some Cone Engineering 12” mini megs but couldn’t quite get them to fit right without contacting each other on the yo-mamas. I don’t weld so custom fabricating was not an option for me. I finally ordered a set of Mikes head pipes since they were on sale. The cone mufflers slip right on and have a nice clean look. Can’t wait to fire them up once the bike is ready! Still got some brackets and clamps to finish but the look great mocked up. They remind me of the older Omar’s Hooligan piles.

Dang Willis, those pipes look nice! I’m guessing they are still very, ahem, throaty?

That really looks way too nice to throw in an old motorcycle, you should send it to me to display in my garage. :D

Started mine up for the first time in 5 months. Turned over twice and vroom!!! Started like it was last run yesterday. Spring fever is here but I am still out with buldging disc problem :(.

Good for you Superjet! Your bike will be ready when you are, Ive got the same back problem, it comes and goes. I hope you’re up and able soon.

Dragged resto out of it's winter nest yesterday, battery showed low but about 4th slow, thick oil, kick it fired up nd ran well. Needed to go to Madison, 90 miles round trip, mid 40's, didn't take long to go try the Road Couch (royal star) which fired and ran also. Hard to beat full windshield and fairings at 42 degrees. 50's today but made the big decision and for only the second time in my life, I'm going to ride a brand new bike today! :sneaky:

Ok, so here are pics of my rear tire, including the manufacture date in 2017, so it should be good. These look really bad to me. I wonder if JP cycles has a return or warrenty on lroducts they sell. This is ridiculous for a 2 year old tire with less than 4,000 miles.

No pics, sorry but put on 30 miles. Then up on the lift and dumped oil and filter. Bout what you'd expect for 30 miles I guess, a bit sparkly but no large chucks and no milky beige , what I was mainly concerned about.
Riding position is a bit "racy" Full day rides prolly out of the question. 6 speed close ratio tranny you gotta rev n slip the clutch bit from a stop, You want to be in 2nd leaving a 50MPH corner and it's loafing in 6th at 85 the legal speed limit. Overall not far different than a hotted up XS650, considering I'm observing break in RPM limits....
If you haven't seen the mentions, it's an NOS 2014 buell 1190SX

Growing old, mandatory, growing up? Optional.
A big pile of 81 special parts from a chopper project showed up today, related; Milwaukee iron's 16" spoke rear wheel disappeared....
OK I'll get off this thread til resto gets ready for it's first ride of the year, hopefully tomorrow.

You sure the manufacture date is not 2007?
Have to wonder where that tire was stored before you got it or after you got it.

Not trying to point a finger at anyone just that no way a two year old tire should look like that!

I have a bike sitting in the barn that to the best of my knowledge has a rear tire that is at least
twelve years old, have not looked at the build date recently, but it only looks a slight bit worse than that!

I think I'd be contacting the place you bought it and also try to find a contact for the manufacture and
email them some of those pictures and let them know you have posted this to a large online site.
