... I cannot find ANY way to install the exhaust port optimizer, as the install space is just so limited....

Well it'll be a stock motor w/ 1 3/4" pipes. Everything I've read and heard says I'll def need them...Leave them out, until you know they'll help...

I'd still leave them for later. Do the shakedown runs. Fix other things. Then come back to it, you'll have something to compare with...

Gordon Scott maybe??Those do look good, There was a one man XS650 exhaust builder on the east coast that closed up, kinda rings a bell he built sets like that. I fer sher understand budget, use whatcha got, builds....
From what many have said; some sort of internal baffling seems to help a "straight pipe" exhaust. Not to mention reducing that cloying "exhaust valve ring" you hear with unbaffled pipes.
