The current engine rebuild (XS1) I noticed had 8 copper washers under the acron nuts holding the head together. I am going to use sealing washers on the outer but is it OK to use the cooper washers on the inner four?

I sure hope so! Because that’s how I did mine.

The copper washers are sealing washers, better than the OEM rubber things.

I used the cooper washers on the last XS1 and it leaked but only on one side. Put rubber ones on and no leak. I probably should have used new cooper washers.

I use brass washers on my engines, so far no problems.
I think the copper washers need to be annealed before reusing.

Slightly different, but I used copper header gaskets on my old hot rod pickup. When I had to remove the headers for something, I would anneal them. It makes copper soft as buttah'.
