One good thing to remember is NEVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY until you check here. You might just find out it's important.
That fiber oil galley plug seals the oil gallery. With out it oil can leak, either outside or back inside the engine. It may leak enough to starve the engine parts the gallery feeds of oil.
I'm not sure where to find one. Maybe others will be more help with that.

Get a better manual. Nobody uses a Chilton because, as you're finding out, it's not much help, lol. Most of us consider the factory manual to be about the best. You can get it for free here .....

your kidding me right? I saw that fiber, it was a very miniscule pc. didn't think it belonged to a motor so I trashed it. also I didn't see any mention of it in the chilton book I have . what now?

I suppose u could make one from a piece of rubber, like a old innertube?
