Yes those are correct early covers, one of many little differences on the early production bikes.
How do you get the fork tubes out of the leg?

What Marty posted; you have to push the cover down to remove the slotted aluminum ring.

For covered shocks, I built a fitting for my hydraulic press. It has two plates with half moon cut-outs, one welded to the frame, the other adjustable .....
The other fitting with the V-notched strips of plate is for open spring shocks. One of the strips is welded to the frame, the other slides in and locks under it once pressure is applied .....

Only done it 50-60 times haha.
Not sure it would work with those dust covers on the early shocks (springs might be too tight to get hooks in.

No springs are visible.

Did you have time to find the two shocks that the green covers go to?
I need a good strap wrench. I ordered one but it was crap. What does everyone use?
