Anyone know the measurements of the 1970 XS1 battery?

Here's how you do it Bill.
Use Partzilla or similar to find the battery part number...
Copy and paste that number into Google and up pops all the links to that battery with all the relevant info....
....like dimensions.

A stator from any year will work, you'd just ignore the yellow wire.... but I have an XS1 stator if you're trying to keep XS1 parts on it. Let me know and I'll have a look at it.

Got her all apart except the engine. Now the fun starts.
How do you get the rear shock cover off?
The swing arm bolt came out easy. That is a first for me.

I use one of these Progressive Suspension shock spring tools. They're about $40. It works for the later OE shocks. I can't be certain about the early ones. @5twins posted how to make a tool if you search on here.

Anyone seen this stack up on the Kickstarter shaft? The parts list I have does not show these parts, just the flat washer between the shaft and case..

No I have not seen that set up on the kick start shaft. It looks awfully like those bearing belong in the clutch. The thrust bearing looks like an aftermarket up grade clutch one.

I ordered one from Walmart and they had the right dimensions but when I received it, it was way too big. Anyone know where I can get 5-6 batteries for the 70/71? I could not find one on Amazon or eBay. I will check eBay again.
