This might help.
OK yes that is obvious. There is something else more subtle.Missing the steering damper.

Great place for a lock nut!Time for another installment. I have to do this resurrection differently than I would like. I would rather tear it down to the frame and go from there. Can't do that right now as I do not have enough room to store all the parts. So I have to do it in sections. Since I started at the front and the wheel and fender is done time to take the rest of the front end apart. Something had been bothering me and I couldn't put my finger on it. I finally saw it. Surprised one of you Eagle eyes didn't point it out.

Out of time for today. Anybody see something wrong in the pic?
You are getting warm.Great place for a lock nut!
Except that's not a lock nut you are referring to. At least not a lock nut as normally thought of.Great place for a lock nut!
You overlooked it face to face but we're supposed to pick it out of a tiny pic?Shouldn't have needed a bigger pic if you know early trees. It was easy to overlook I did.
Exactly with the special washer under the top tree. He/whoever must have just screwed up putting it back together. I was surprised as mechanically everything has been very good on the bike. I did find a couple of other surprises in the front end. Pics of them later today. It's the right part, just installed upside down.
I don't think it was a mistake, It looks to me that PO flipped the locking nut to compensate for the fact that the dampener/bushing nut were missing. I mean I wouldn't have done it that way but I can see why they did... Just think of it like this, had they not done it that way the bushing nut washer would probably be missing, with nothing to hold it down it would likely have been lost or pitched.Exactly with the special washer under the top tree. Well at least you got the fork ears on right. Ask Bob about that.
